6 sets, and 1 Tanakh were given! Many pamphlets, comfort cards and pins were distributed!
A team of two were out on this day when two sets in Hebrew/French were given to a Moroccan man who they met two weeks prior. He recognized them immediately and said he came to the mall the previous week to see if they too had come back. There, he took a French set from them. He told the team that his grandson wanted the set, so he gave it to him. On this day however, he took another set for himself and one for a friend of his. He asked a member how long the prayers were at Beth Ariel as they had invited him to come for a visit. They explained that they have a time of worship and afterwards, the rabbi and all the congregation pray together (Jews and Gentiles) before the message is given. He shared with them that his son-in-law is a rabbi and that he, himself, was in the IDF in the 70’s and that one of his family members, who was also in the IDF, recently died. The team thanked him for his service and sympathized with him as they shared how they constantly pray for Israel and the IDF. He told them then that all of his family lived in Israel. He was encouraged to visit the website on the contact card and there he could listen to their rabbi’s testimony. Then because Yom Kippur is soon coming, they shared about the animal sacrifices needed in the Mosaic law at Yom Kippur for the atonement of sin, and how blood needed to be shed for sin according to Leviticus 17: 11. They told him Yeshua was the final sacrifice for sin as written in Isaiah 53. One of the team members asked the man if he would like to have the rabbi call him and although he declined, a team member and the man exchanged phone numbers in case a visit was requested. He received a hostage pin and left them with words of kindness.
One Russian set was given to a woman who was from the Jewish community and spoke very little English. Presenting the Brit Chadashah, they told her about Jesus, Yeshua being the Messiah. She kept on repeating the name of her daughter G who lived in the West Island. She was given a pin and all the literature and was grateful as she hugged them before parting ways.
One set in French/Hebrew was given to a man who upon taking the antisemitism pamphlet said that he had lived in France, but because of the situation with antisemitism, he decided to come and live in Canada 10 years ago. They spoke about how the situation in general was getting worse. As he noticed one of the team members wearing a Star of David, he shared that he was proud to be Jewish and would not remove his kippa. They spoke about this very hatred described in the Tanakh as an everlasting hatred and about God’s love for Israel. They pointed out one of the promises of God for Israel on the comfort card which was from Zechariah 2:8b: “For, he who touches you, touches the apple of His eye.” They shared about the coming of “Jacob’s trouble” when all the nations would come against Israel and how this hatred was spiritual and intensifying because the Messiah would be coming soon. The subject turned to persecution and how in history the Jewish people suffered under the hands of “false Christians” who distorted the word of God. They spoke about how some churches believe that all the promises for Israel belong to the church, and that this is known as replacement theology. He was told that in the Brit Chadashah, he would be able to read about the fulfillment of the prophecies of the first coming of the Messiah, and that He will come again to reign in Jerusalem. He accepted the whole set and said that he will look into it. He was given a hostage pin as well.
Two sets were given, one in Hebrew and one in Hebrew/Russian to a daughter and her mother. They both accepted all the literature and a hostage pin. They were very surprised and touched by these beautiful gifts.
One Tanakh in Hebrew/French was given to an elderly man who wore a kippa. A member told him that she was Messianic and believed that Yeshua was the Messiah and that He came and will come back to reign in Jerusalem. While presenting the Tanakh, a religious man with his three children stopped walking and asked the elderly man if he spoke Hebrew? The man answered that he did not, so the religious man spoke in French trying to dissuade the man from taking the Tanakh. He told him that the word had been changed and that they were not Jewish. However, a team member responded saying that she was Jewish and Messianic, and that she believed Yeshua was the Messiah due to the prophecies concerning Him being fulfilled at His first coming. She told them that the word in the Tanakh that they offered had in no way been altered. The religious man started walking then and stopped a little bit further on but the elderly man received the literature and kept the Tanakh. As he walked away, the religious man approached him and spoke to him again, and the team saw from afar that they had opened the antisemitism pamphlet. The elderly man came back to the team, and they encouraged him to keep the Tanakh and not to be intimidated or be in fear so he kept the Tanakh and said that he would ask his rabbi.
There was a car parked not far from where the team was and a woman came up to them and asked if they were distributing those books as she pointed to the Tanakh and the Brit Chadashah. As they were saying, yes, she handed them the gift bag with the set and pamphlets that her husband had received earlier at this mall. She told them that it had brought great disagreement between them because she follows the rabbis and is religious. The team responded by saying that the books are gifts, given to be a blessing, and that each person has the right to receive or to refuse. She said that she was very thankful and grateful for what they do but that she cannot keep the gifts.
The team was thankful to God for the opportunity to serve Him, and they thank all those who prayed for the outing.

3 sets, 2 Tanakhs were distributed on this beautiful day in August.
A team of two first went to a mall that they had not been to for a while. Here, one Tanakh in Hebrew/French was given to a man. The team handed him an antisemitism pamphlet, and when he saw it, he said that antisemitism would never end! They replied saying that it will end when the Messiah returns to reign in Jerusalem. He took the Tanakh but did not want to take the Brit Chadashah after they shared that the book was written by Jewish men that believed that Yeshua was the Messiah.
One set in French/Hebrew was given to a woman who had lived in France but now lives in Montreal. She received everything and was very happy to take the Tanakh and the Brit Chadashah. She shared that she had many books, and they replied that the books they had were the word of God and so the woman told them that she would read them. Hearing this, the woman was very excited as she saw that it was a prompting from God that He was calling to her and giving her this beautiful gift. The team told her that the religious leaders (most of them) did not recognize Yeshua when he came the first time, because their teachings were outside the word of God. They quoted Yeshua in the book of John, chapter 5:46 “For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me.”. They shared that all the religious and civil leaders had to receive Yeshua as the Messiah for Him to establish the Messianic Kingdom but that it will happen only when Yeshua comes back as stated in Zechariah 12:10. They showed her the Brit Chadashah and the genealogy of Yeshua; He being the Son of David. She replied that she would read them and reached for her wallet to give a donation. They replied of course that this was a gift, and all paid for by the Society of Distribution of the Hebrew Scriptures. They encouraged her to read the passage in Isaiah 53 and shared with her how the Messiah, Yeshua could make her tsadik and that no good works could save but that salvation is through faith by grace. They quoted the verse in Habakkuk 2:4 (that the righteous live by faith) giving her the example of Abraham and she nodded her head in agreement. She was full of joy and shared that she had three sons and that her desire was for them to get married. They prayed with her and handed her a pin and a Beth Ariel contact card identifying where she could listen to the messages. During this conversation, the man who had received the Tanakh previously, and had opposed them, came to them and told the women that the team was trying to convert her. They answered him saying that they could not convert anyone but that only God can save. A member spoke again about Yeshua wanting to set up the Messianic Kingdom, but that most of the religious leaders at that time did not believe in Him, but that this same Messiah, Yeshua would come back again to reign in Jerusalem when all the religious and civil leaders would receive Him. He nodded his head and left. The woman kept all the gifts as they hugged each other before leaving.
One set in Hebrew was given to a woman who was in a hurry. As they handed the Brit to her, they told her that it was the New Testament and that they believed that Yeshua was the Messiah and spoke about Jesus/Yeshua from the Scriptures. She took everything and went into a building but after 5 or 10 minutes, she came out and handed back the set, saying that she already had a Tanakh. She kept all the literature and said that she would read it. She was very polite, gentle and thankful.
The team decided to go to another mall that they hadn’t been to for a while. Here, two Hebrew/English sets were given to a woman who came from Poland. She was very surprised to hear that the sets were a gift from The Society of Distribution of Hebrew Scriptures and immediately thought of giving this beautiful gift to an elderly neighbour of hers. A member said that they could give her another set, which she took gladly. They also gave her the Isaiah 53 leaflet so that she could later read how the Messiah/Yeshua could make her tsadik. They encouraged her to read this entire chapter in the Tanakh and she was given the antisemitism pamphlet, the comfort card, the Beth Ariel card with two pins. She was very grateful and thankful.
One Tanakh in Hebrew/English was given to an elderly woman who asked right away where the team was from and who they were representing. They informed her that they were volunteers for the SDHS and that they were also from Beth Ariel. They handed her the antisemitism pamphlet and comfort card. She was very pleased to receive such a beautiful gift and was very surprised. She also took a hostage pin and the Beth Ariel contact card and was very thankful and grateful.
It was a great outing, and they thanked God for opening the doors wide so that they could share and give His word, especially during these times that we are all living in. All the glory is His! Praise God!
