We rejoice that the hostages have been freed and have returned home!. For the past two years, we have prayed day after day for this moment to come.
The trade appears unbalanced, with 1,950 prisoners released in exchange for these living hostages. With Israel, such trades are rarely equitable.
Some religious groups have called this ‘a great miracle,” admitting they never thought such a deal could be reached, a sentiment echoed by Shas chairman Aryeh Deri, who had dismissed earlier proposals as unrealistic. Yet the agreement came together quickly. Just last week, we saw how fast countries around the world, including Arab states and members of the European Union, rallied behind it.
Donald Trump, the architect of this peace agreement, announced on Wednesday that this moment marks “the first steps toward a strong, durable, and everlasting peace.” He even referenced biblical terms, quoting Jesus when he said, “Blessed are the peacemakers.” But will this peace truly be everlasting?
Based on biblical prophecy, the answer is no, not yet. This current peace agreement might be the first step toward the false covenant prophesied by Daniel, the very treaty that will mark the start of the seven-year Tribulation.
But what makes this specific moment stand out from all previous peace efforts is not only how quickly it was achieved but also the unprecedented participation of nations. Many countries have openly expressed their intention to send troops to help monitor and enforce the agreement.
Last Thursday, the United States took the lead by announcing the deployment of 200 troops to Israel. Reports indicate they will not enter Gaza but will be stationed inside Israel, and this number is only the start. Additionally, media reports last Thursday stated that other countries expressed their desire to send troops to the area: countries like Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. These troops will form a multinational military oversight team under what they are calling an International Board of Peace, to be chaired by Donald Trump himself.
All of this prompts a basic question: What are these nations doing in the Land of Israel, and why are they trying to influence its future?
The Scriptures tell us that a day will come when all nations will gather against Israel, sending their armies into the land. They will eventually converge in the north, in the Valley of Armageddon, as described by John in the Book of Revelation, and surround Jerusalem itself, as foretold by Zechariah and Yeshua. Could it be that we are witnessing the early stages of this prophecy unfolding, slowly but surely before our eyes?
It seems that with this peace deal, we are reaching a new turning point in Middle East history. Hezbollah, Hamas, and Iran, once fierce aggressors, have been militarily neutralized—at least for now. They haven’t disappeared, as prophecy still predicts conflict and upheaval from their lands, but for now, there is an unusual quiet. Where all this will lead in the near future remains uncertain.
