Studying biblical prophecy is one of the most rewarding and inspiring pursuits a believer can pursue. It’s always uplifting to see how world events continue to unfold in ways that reflect the path laid out in these prophecies.
For at least the past 15 years, one region has increasingly begun to resemble the prophecies in Daniel 2 and 7, as well as those echoed by John in Revelation 13, and that region is: Europe. Daniel talks about four world-dominant empires that would span from his own time, 2,500 years ago, until the Second Coming of the Messiah.
Three of these kingdoms rose and fell exactly as he predicted: Babylon, Medo-Persia, and Greece. But the fourth empire, the Roman Empire, remains distinct. It rose as Daniel predicted but has not yet fallen in the dramatic, prophetic manner described in the Scriptures. According to the prophets, its final destruction will pave the way for the Messianic Era, an event that clearly has not yet happened.
From Daniel, this same fourth empire appears again in the book of Revelation. John sees it revived at the end of the age, now empowered by the combined strength and characteristics of the previous empires. And it rises in the same geographical area where the Roman Empire once ruled, Europe. This is why many students of prophecy speak of a coming Revived Roman Empire, a renewed European power bloc that will play a decisive role in the last days.
And as we follow current events in this part of Europe, two major developments stand out—developments that strongly suggest that the full rise of this end-time empire might be closer than we realize.
First, Europe now increasingly feels the need to strengthen and unify in response to the growing threat from what the Bible calls the ‘King of the North’, the leader of the upcoming Gog and Magog war, commonly believed to be Russia. Just a few weeks ago, on November 20, 2025, Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin, warned the European Union that ‘if you want war, then Russia will defeat you’ (Reuters). This statement reflects the long-standing and deepening tensions in the region, especially with the war in Ukraine. As a result, Europe has been rapidly strengthening and rearming itself in preparation for a possible conflict.
The second major development, now showing up nearly every day in American news, is the worsening immigration crisis and the increasing presence of foreign cultures and religions, especially Islam.
This situation has caused many right-wing parties to quickly gain popularity, making it very likely they will lead future governments. Currently, right-wing movements are leading the polls in France, Germany, and the U.K., and in recent years, they have already gained power in countries like Italy and Finland, among others.
Across Europe, nearly all far-right parties share one main goal: closing borders, restricting immigration, deporting those in the country illegally, and increasing the military’s powers in Europe. This is an ideal situation for the Antichrist.
Consider one example: France, home to the largest Muslim population in Western Europe. After the 2022 elections, the right-wing National Rally party led by Marine Le Pen surged from 8 to 89 seats in the National Assembly, marking a historic breakthrough. Additionally, public debates in France continue to be dominated by issues related to Islam, religious veils, and concerns over radicalization. All of these point to a Europe that increasingly resembles the descriptions given by the prophets concerning the last days.
These trends may also signal the start of Islam’s influence waning in Europe and the Americas, as well as the early emergence of the Antichrist system. While end-time prophecies do include Arab nations, their primary focus is on the Middle East and the area around Israel, as seen in passages like Psalm 83, Amos 1, and also the war of Gog and Magog.
Nevertheless, Scripture assigns the greater end-time influence to the descendants of Japheth, specifically Europe, along with America and parts of Asia. The Americas, although not explicitly mentioned in prophecy, naturally fall under Europe’s prophetic influence since they were largely shaped and developed by European civilizations.
Here in Quebec, our own government, though not right-wing, has passed Bill 9, which reinforces secularism and restricts religious practices by requiring municipalities to approve gatherings such as prayer in public spaces, including parks.
This legislation was triggered by groups of Muslims praying in the streets of Montreal and blocking traffic. However, instead of addressing that specific issue, the law extends much further by banning all public prayers without permission and even prohibiting government workers from simply wearing a kippah or other religious items. This bill was passed unanimously by all parties.
Again, taken together, all these developments point to a world shifting exactly in the direction the prophets described, aligning itself with the very conditions that will precede the Second Coming. The development of these prophecies—especially the emerging world power based in Europe—reminds us of a type of bamboo in Asia called the Chinese Moso bamboo.
When you plant a seed and water it, it may seem like nothing happens for years. Year 1: Nothing breaks the ground. Year 2: Still nothing. Year 3: The soil appears unchanged. Year 4: People start to think the seed is dead. It is only in the fifth year that something incredible occurs: in just six weeks, the bamboo suddenly shoots up over 80 feet into the air. People passing by and seeing it grow in six weeks say, “Wow, this bamboo grew so fast!”
Watch Europe: Bible prophecies tell us that it will grow and grow fast. In contrast to the bamboo, the prophecies concerning the Antichrist and the Western Allies, which had apparently been dormant for the last 2000 years, now seem ready to rise rapidly.
Regarding Israel, none of these developments suggest an easy path ahead. No matter how the trends are interpreted, Israel does not emerge as the “winner.” Whether it’s the decline of Islamic influence in the West or the increasing power of Western alliances, the prophets foretold a time when hostility toward the Jewish people would escalate dramatically, reaching levels never seen before in history.
It is Amos the prophet who said concerning the Tribulation period, “Alas, you who are longing for the day of the Lord, for what purpose will the day of the Lord be to you? It will be darkness and not light; as when a man flees from a lion and a bear meets him, or goes home, leans his hand against the wall, and a snake bites him” Amos 5:18-19. Though this time of darkness will be brief, it will be intense. This is why we proclaim the message of salvation in Yeshua, the only refuge and the only way of escape.
