The media today is saturated by pro-Israel and anti-Israel rhetoric, causing many to take their battle stations and argue their position. There is a lot of ground to cover, a lot of history that has led up to this tiny nation’s present moment, and while our thoughts can move left to right in this tug of war in terms of whose responsible and whose accountable, one thing is for certain when it comes to the Jewish people themselves; they are considered the apple of God’s eye.

The apple (or pupil) of the eye is used metaphorically to point out how we are to protect ourselves or protect something else. “Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye” (Proverbs 7:2). There is no question how important the scriptures are and how it must be guarded and protected as a treasure. We also read in Deuteronomy 32:10 how the Lord sees Israel. It says “In a desert land He found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; He guarded him as the apple of His eye”.

When considering the eye’s field of vision, it’s pretty broad. If we were to fix our gaze straight forward, we would still be able to see at least 90 degrees to the left and 90 degrees to the right. Of course, if we want to really see what is, for example, going on to the left of our gaze, we will turn our heads so that the event becomes the center of our focus. What is the center of our focus?

This is not about politics or parties or personal persuasions. This is about the spiritual battle against the Jewish nation where Satan’s desire is to take our minds off of the center of God’s focus and will.

So if you are asked why you support Israel what would you answer?

In these days we need to be on high alert, defending the truth, and not passively sit on the fence.  Neither are we to defend what is untrue.

We also need to pay heed to an important prophecy, that the church in general will fail in the latter times (today) and that according to 1Timothy 4:1, some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils. Is this what we are witnessing today when truth, vis a vis Isael, is being denied and lies are being added to God’s testimony of His purpose for her and through her.

Remember God’s unconditional covenant to this nation. He has given these blessings as an inheritance forever. “And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. 8 Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.” Genesis 17:7-8

Remember, she is the adoption, the glory and the covenants, and through this nation the greatest gift to mankind came. Yeshua said that salvation is of the Jew (John 4:22) and through this nation, through the seed of Abraham, the answer to sin and the hope of salvation has become possible for all nations.

An eagle has a peripheral vision of 340 degrees, almost double of what man can see. But consider the eyes of God which are everywhere and how His eyes see past the parameters of time with His foresight. His eyes also see past our own outer shell. He sees the heart. Let us bless the name of the Lord by remaining loyal to His vision for Israel.
