Where were we on October 7^th when the first news reports came blaring out of Israel that they were attacked by Hamas terrorists? At first no one knew how many were affected. And then we heard that perhaps 20 or 30 were killed. It did not take long to have all the tragic news unraveled before us, giving us heart wrenching statistics that there were 1200 Israeli fatalities and the abduction of 251 individuals to the Gaza strip.

Among the kibbutzim which were infiltrated that day, Be’eri and Nir Oz experienced the greatest devastation, with entire families being wiped out at Be’eri. While we cannot bring back those precious lives which were taken so violently and suddenly, we can help restore hope and calm to those who are still coping with grief, loss and emotional upheaval.

Here is what one survivor of the Be’eri massacre recounted as told by The Times of Israel.

Adi Efrat’s home was spared a torching because she did not know that she could lock her sheltered room by turning its handle upward. “So they just entered and found me in my pajamas,” Efrat, one of the survivors, told The Times of Israel. The terrorists ordered her to give them a car and she agreed to show them where the keys to the kibbutz’s cars were. Outside, the terrorists began running with Efrat, 51, after they encountered Israeli soldiers. According to accounts, Shaldag, a special forces unit of the Israeli Air Force, helicoptered about 20 soldiers into Be’eri approximately two hours after the terrorists entered the kibbutz. That Israeli force was overwhelmed shortly after its arrival, according to eyewitnesses.

Kibbutz Be’eri has begun the reconstruction of their community. The government has given funds for rebuilding the main larger structures and facilities. But we would like to help this community in Israel, its citizens who have still have a lot of emotional processing to undergo. We would like to make this a project where we would participate by supporting the mental health healing of many of those affected at Be’eri. We would like to support this project at Be’eri Kibbutz and would ask you to consider participating in this project. You may of course participate financially and or be in prayer for these residents and for those at the other kibbutzim who were very affected.
