Magen David on Hebrew Scriptures

Report for Wednesday, March 22nd

8 gift sets (4 sets in English and 4 sets in French), 63 Passover pamphlets were given.

A team of two ladies visited a local shopping mall on a cool day last week. One of the team members spoke to a man who received the set whose mother was Jewish and they told him about the meaning of the Passover and the blood atonement. They shared about Messiah’s forgiveness of sins and how the Lamb of God spoken of in the New Testament was the Redeemer who took away the sins of the world. Later, a team member met a man who had received a gift set a year ago. Together they reflected on the scriptures regarding the Messiah of Israel and she shared her personal testimony regarding the time she repented of her sin and received Yeshua as her Lord and Saviour. He was touched by her confession and thanked her once again for speaking with him.

A man seeing the team offering the gift set called out to them that “the time is coming” and they responded by saying that “Yes, Jesus says this in Matthew 24”. They shared the gospel with him and were touched by his enthusiasm.

A French woman was greeted next, and she mentioned that she was involved with a Jewish community dancing group. She took a set and said she would give it to a Jewish friend.

The other team member spoke to a woman who was married to a Jewish man. She received a French set and they spoke about Jesus being the Messiah and that the Jewish people knew Him by the name Yeshua. The woman exclaimed “Isn’t Jesus for the Catholics?” and they explained that there is only one truth which is found in the Word of God. Continuing, the team member explained that Jesus is the Word of God and that though there are many religions, it is written in the Word that Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). She was shown in the New Testament that the prophesies of the Messiah were fulfilled as spoken of in the Tanakh. She was encouraged to read the leaflet on Isaiah 53 with her husband and shown the contact information and website.

A Moroccan Jew who had tzitzits received the set with joy and was happily surprised that the Brit Chadashah was written in Hebrew. Confirming that the book was written by Jewish authors, the team member told him that he would find the fulfillment of Messiah’s prophesied coming as spoken of in the Tanakh.

There was another encounter with a Jewish gentleman who received the set with joy. The team member asked him if he had read the scriptures. Saying no to her, she testified to him that she too had never read the scriptures, but then she was led to read the Word and was convicted of her sins. She could see that there was nothing that she could do to remove her sins so she turned to the One who provided atonement for her. The man, with tears in his eyes, replied “God forgives”. She responded by saying that “Yes, through Yeshua, the Messiah, there is forgiveness and if you read Isaiah 53 you can understand why the Messiah can atone for sin”.  She told him about man’s nature being sinful since the fall and assured him that God did forgive through Yeshua, the Messiah. She shared about the exclusive path to the Father, through Yeshua.

The team asked him if he wanted to pray with them to receive Yeshua as his Saviour but as he was not ready, she suggested that he ask God with a seeking heart to show him the truth. She said that God would reveal the truth when he truly searches. He was then encouraged to listen to the pastor’s teachings on the internet.  At the end of the conversation she quoted the verse, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”   It was a great and moving encounter and the man kept repeating, “You made my day”.

We thank God for the beautiful time, His lovingkindness and His love for Israel. We also thank those people who keep praying for the outreach.
