A team of two ladies went to visit V., an older Russian gentleman in his senior residence. They had visited him once before, sharing the Good News with him, and said they would return at a later date. This is their report:
We had actually forgotten that we were going to visit him but graciously allowed us a visit. He repeated his treat of caviar on a slab of bread with thick butter to be washed down by a shot of rum that he emptied from his bottle. Neither of us were up to this feast but we had a nibble and sip to be polite.
He mentioned that he had a few children and former wives who lived close by but chose not to visit with them. His passion is writing and he prefers to live alone. He was a journalist and military captain in the army. He shared about his life, how he was born to a Ukrainian mother and a Russian Jewish father. He spoke of how difficult it was when he came to Canada around 16 years ago.
The teams shared about the power and authority of Messiah to calm the storm and the wind. They read Colossians 1:15-20 and John 1:1. He was touched by the invitation that the Lord wants to have a meaningful and personal relationship with him. That was when they asked if he would like to pray asking for forgiveness and for Jesus (Yeshua) to come into his heart. He got up from his chair, turned off his TV, stood with his hands outstretched, and said he was ready. He repeated the words of the prayer as best he could and with sincerity. With big hugs all around we welcomed him as a child of God. We asked him if he was happy, and he said he was. He wants to visit the congregation and will make arrangements for that.
Praise Yeshua for being with us!
