Have you ever felt like you just wanted to disappear? Maybe from the middle of a crowd, during an awkward conversation, or in an uncomfortable moment — as if you could just step off the planet for a while. If so, you’re in good company! Elijah once asked God to take his life, and Jonah begged the sailors to throw him overboard. If you’ve ever felt that way… you’re not alone.

But for Yeshua, His disappearances were always deliberate. Each time He vanished from the scene, it was never out of fear or avoidance — it was always about timing, obedience, and the Father’s plan.

When Yeshua preached in His hometown synagogue at Nazareth and declared that He fulfilled Isaiah 61:1–2, the crowd grew angry. He reminded them that God’s mercy had previously extended to Gentiles — to a Syrian healed of leprosy and to a widow in Sidon — and they tried to throw Him off a cliff. But Scripture says: “He passed through their midst.” He disappeared — not to save His own life, but because it wasn’t yet time to give it.

Later, in John 8, Yeshua declared, “Before Abraham was, I am.” Again, they took up stones to kill Him — and again, He hid Himself and passed through their midst. Why? Because it wasn’t the right moment or the right way for Him to die. Each disappearance followed divine timing — never distance. And notice something: every time Yeshua disappeared, He reappeared soon after… and always to serve.

After the Nazareth disappearance, He was immediately in Capernaum, teaching and healing. After leaving the Temple in John 8, He then met a man born blind — and healed him. He was never absent. He was still near, still at work.

His disappearances never meant His absence. Even in the story of the blind man, once healed, the man is asked, “Where is He?”  Yeshua had disappeared again — but only for a time. After the religious leaders expelled the man, Yeshua returned, revealing Himself as the Son of God. The man believed and worshiped Him.

Yeshua’s timing is always perfect. He knows when to appear and when to wait — both in the Scriptures and in our lives. Sometimes it feels like Yeshua has disappeared from our story—especially during times of pain or uncertainty. But His timing and presence remain unchanged. He is always near and active, even when He seems hidden.

Remember Thomas, who said he wouldn’t believe unless he saw the risen Lord for himself? Eight days later, Yeshua appeared again — just for him. He wasn’t absent during that week; he was waiting for the perfect moment to meet Thomas in his doubt.

So too, He meets us — in His time, with His purpose, never too late.

“The Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
“He will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)
“Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)

Heaven and earth will someday vanish, but His promises will never fade. Yeshua is Immanuel — God with us.

When He seems silent or unseen, remember: His disappearances are not absences. He is waiting, watching, and working in ways we cannot yet see. Morning by morning, His presence is closer than we think.
