Some of the stories we will read from 2Samuel may at first appear unrelated and divergent from an ultimate purpose. But through all the ups and downs and wrong decisions which David took, the Lord remained faithful to him, forgiving him and confirming the unconditional promise which was established from the time he was just a shepherd.
David’s sin are surprising and often surpass understanding, but these stories work to make each one of us filter through our own responses, encouraging us to make amends with our ever faithful God. While God does forgive, the consequences of these sins may often continue their course throughout our lives. That must not however, impede our understanding of our merciful God, because all the while He does have a plan for our good. (Jerm.29:11).
