Let’s think about history for just a moment. The Greeks were great historians but they recorded the events purely as facts and if anything, always looked back into the past, to their ancestors’ achievements. But in the Hebrew Bible, its different. History is not merely a record of facts because we have a God who is in control of human history and is decisive in how all these events will turn out. God always has a plan and He turns our attention to a future hope, a time of restoration, even when there is despair. We think of men such as Churchill, Balfour, Lenin and Roosevelt, individuals who shaped our history in the 20th century. But God also chose men to work out His purposes; men like Abraham, and Moses, Samuel and David, prophets like Isaiah, Jeremiah and Daniel, men who would all play a part in revealing God’s history of redeeming mankind, a history pointing to the Messianic Hope. This is the kind of hope we need because history exposes the truth of what we are and why we are so desperate for that hope. Yes, God is in control of human history as well as in control of our individual lives. Bible history directs us to a hope outside ourselves, a hope in the Messiah. Yes we serve an awesome God who called the stars into being, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is Yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head above all.
Be blessed as you listen to the message “How to Find the Messiah” with Messianic leader, Jacques Isaac Gabizon, shalom.
