1 set, 1Tanakh, 1 Bible and one prayer of salvation!

The team stayed in the same mall during the whole outing. One Tanakh in Hebrew/French was given to a Gentile woman who was soon to be married to an Israeli religious Jewish man. She shared that she would soon be converting. The Tanakh was given to her, and she was very happy and surprised to receive this beautiful gift.  They explained the definition of who a Jew is (a nation and not a religion) and that they are descendants from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. They told her about the difference between rabbinical and biblical Judaism. They then asked her if she was Christian and she responded saying that she was. One of the team members shared that she was Jewish and Messianic, as she believed that Jesus/Yeshua was the Messiah who fulfilled the prophecies that were written in the Tanakh (the Old Testament), many prophecies which are still to be fulfilled. These prophecies concern His second coming and how He will reign in Jerusalem. They encouraged her to keep her faith in Jesus/Yeshua. She received all the literature and the Tanakh and they took her to look inside the front page and explained that the gift was from the SDHS. She was both thankful and grateful.

One set in English was given to a man who was very thankful. They explained that the Brit Chadashah was a book written by Jewish men who believed Yeshua was the Messiah. They explained that he could read how the prophecies concerning Him, were fulfilled at the first coming of the Messiah and that He would return to reign in Jerusalem. They told him the importance of reading the Scriptures and to go back to these writings to see how one can find out who the Messiah is. They mentioned that in the first book of the Brit Chadashah, he would be able to read about the genealogy of the Messiah. They spoke to him about the importance of returning to God because of sin. He received all the literature and also a hostage pin and he thanked them for the good work and said that it was great what they were doing.

They met an elderly man from Germany who moved to Montreal in 1957 and when he saw the antisemitism pamphlet, he told them that he had many Jewish friends. He said that it was terrible how the world has changed, and he remembered a time of harmony when everyone was getting along. They spoke about the Bible and how antisemitism and peace can only be found in Jesus, and how He will come again to reign in Jerusalem, bringing peace. He told the team that he was attacked a few weeks ago at this same mall they were in.  He showed them his bruised wrist and how some men had stolen his watch.  They asked him if he had a Bible, which he did, and if he was Christian, which he answered that he was. They spoke about the salvation and personal relationship he could have with Jesus. They told him that the blood of Yeshua, Jesus can sanctify him and that Jesus can cleanse and forgive him of all his sins. One of the team members was prompted by the Holy Spirit to ask him if he wanted to receive Jesus as his personal Saviour, which he readily accepted. He prayed with the team member as he received Yeshua!  He then accepted the Beth Ariel contact card and was encouraged to listen to the messages and to visit Beth Ariel congregation.

One Bible in English was given to a young man as they shared how the truth could be found in the Scriptures. They spoke about the difference between the world and the news, and the words that are spoken in this world compared to the truth found in the Word of God. They shared about the salvation he can have in Jesus as one of the team members referred to the verse in John 14:6. He was very thankful and was given the card from Beth Ariel to listen online.

As they were speaking to a woman, another woman only a few feet away shouted loudly saying, “Stay away from us” (they had seen this woman just before in the parking lot and smiled at her). They thanked God that the situation did not escalate and ignoring the woman, continued the conversation with the other lady.

The team had many other conversations, and many pamphlets and comfort cards were given!  They thank God for His protection and guidance and thank Him for the great outing! All the praise and glory and thanksgiving are His! Praise the Lord!

2 sets (1 French, 1 English), 3 Spanish Bibles and 2 Brit Chadashah were given.

A team of two were out on a rainy day at a local shopping mall. The first set in French was given to a woman who knew Pastor Gabizon’s sister. She had been a good friend of hers. She listened to a member speak about why they were there as volunteers with the SDHS and that they had a gift for her. She accepted the comfort card and Beth Ariel contact card first and was busy recounting her relationship with the sister of the pastor, while the other member was speaking with the husband.  He saw the offer of the Tanakh being given to his wife and approved of receiving it and then when he was offered the Brit Chadashah, he took that as well. They expressed joy at the gift saying that it was their lucky day.

Then a second set was given to a woman who stated that she had a Jewish step-family living in Ontario. She was offered the set to give to them as a gift, and she stated that she would take it and hoped that she would see them soon. She also took the antisemitism pamphlet for herself.

They approached a French speaking man who stated he was “pure, pure, pure Israeli”, so he was encouraged to take the contact card and go online to listen to the messages of Pastor Jacques Gabizon. It was here when he stated that he was Moroccan as well and happily took the antisemitism pamphlet, comfort card and the Beth Ariel contact card.

The team approached a gathering of three men outside their truck and realized that they were Spanish workers. They stated that they were at the mall to do some repairs and so the team asked the driver, who spoke English, if he would like a Spanish bible and saying yes, he asked his brother and partner if they would like a bible also. Happily, the team agreed to give them 3 bibles, and the men thanked the team with big smiles.

One of the members met a French, Jewish man who accepted a comfort card and Beth Ariel contact card from her. He was encouraged to listen online. She wanted to offer him a Tanakh in French, but they had given their last one out earlier. She then offered him the Brit Chadashah in French and he accepted that. He listened quietly while she explained that the book was written by Jewish men who believed that Yeshua was the Messiah. He accepted the book and thanked her.

The team then met an elderly man walking with a younger Jewish man who was wearing tzitzit and a kippa. They approached them with the comfort card and Beth Ariel contact card and informed the men that their rabbi was Messianic, and they could listen to his teachings online. They mentioned to the older gentleman that they would have given him the French Tanakh but that they had given out their last one, but then asked if he would like to take a look at the Brit Chadashah. He was willing to take a look and once he held it in his hands, he realized that it was the New Testament. A member explained that the book was written by Jewish men during the time of the Second Temple period who believed Yeshua was the Messiah and told him that their rabbi who was Messianic believed that He, Yeshua was the Messiah. Solemnly, the man took the book and kissed it and said he would read it. Then both men got in their car and drove off.

The team spoke with a Muslim man who refused to listen to the words that Yeshua was divine after asking them who He was. They told him that he could go online and read in the bible, in Isaiah 9:6 that the Messiah would come and be called a wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father. He became angry and frustrated saying he did not want to talk any further and quickly left them.

They also met a Jehovah Witness and were able to discuss the deity of Christ with her. She accepted the Beth Ariel contact card and antisemitism pamphlet.

In the beginning of the outing the atmosphere was tense, and people were putting their hands in the air as if to push the team away but through with time of prayer they began to feel a clearing away and people became more approachable. The team thanked everyone for praying as they sensed the presence of the Holy Spirit and especially at the beginning when the air was tense.
