1 set and 1 Tanakh were given.

The team began this week to give pamphlets for the Feast of Trumpets as the fall holidays are approaching. This time they stayed at one mall and gave one set and one Tanakh.

They encountered a man who had received a set a few months ago. One of the team members remembered him. He shared that he was married with a Jewish woman. As they approached him, they asked how he was and if he was reading the Scriptures that were given to him, and he replied that he had given the set to his wife. A member shared that the Scriptures were for both of them, and continued by saying that there was only one God and that Jesus, Yeshua was the way, the truth and the life. Then he confided that he is going through a hard time, and they were very pained by the news. They encouraged him to listen to the Word of God on the radio or the internet. One member shared that God can do all things and make everything new, and how he can have a relationship with God through Yeshua. They told him that God wanted to have his heart, and how He is his creator, and that God can become his Father through Jesus the Messiah. They said that God loves him, and they gave him another Beth Ariel contact card.

The team encountered a woman who received an antisemitism tract, the comfort card and a bookmark (since she already had a Tanakh). Then, they offered her the Brit Chadashah but she refused it. However, they were able to share how she could find redemption in the Messiah, Yeshua.  She received the Isaiah 53 leaflet and was encouraged to read it.

The team met a man who, when he received the antisemitism pamphlet, stopped and bbegan reading it. He then stated, “ OK” and left. They had offered him the Tanakh, but he already had one.

One Tanakh in English/Hebrew was given to a woman and as they presented the Tanakh to her, they saw a man coming toward them who had just received the antisemitism pamphlet and comfort card. He handed everything back to them and mentioned to the woman that the pamphlet speaks about Jesus and left. However, the woman stayed put and they were able to share their faith with her. She did not want to take the Brit Chadashah but shared with them that she was afraid, and they could see that she was shaken by the encounter with that man. They told her that the Tanakh was the Holy Scriptures and explained to her that they offered her the Torah, the Nevi’im and the Ketuvim, and told her not to fear. She kept everything, except the Brit and left. Surprisingly, they met her later as she was leaving the mall and shared with her that it had always been the minority that believed the truth, the Word of God. They shared with her the definition of a Jew, and explained the difference between biblical and rabbinical Judaism. They shared that in the Brit Chadashah, some believed that Yeshua was the Messiah and some didn’t due to the fact that they were outside the Word of God. They informed her that Yeshua would have set up the Messianic Kingdom if all the religious and civil leaders had accepted Him as Messiah, but that that day will come as explained in Zechariah 12:10. They then shared how in Isaiah 53, the Messiah could make her righteous and that no good works were able to save a person. Then they handed her the Beth Ariel card.

The team was able to share the gospel with an Italian woman. She said that she had many Jewish friends and seemed very interested to know more about the Scriptures. They invited her to Beth Ariel and gave her the Beth Ariel card.

One set in English/Hebrew was given to a man who when he received the antisemitism pamphlet asked why the Holocaust happened and why there was so much suffering going on. They replied that it was because of sin and added that “God suffers when we suffer”. They encouraged him to read the book of Habakkuk where it speaks about this subject. They told him that in the Torah, Moses warned Israel concerning obedience versus disobedience in regards to following the Law. They suggested he read Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28.  They shared how God is now calling men to repent and that He does not force anyone to come to Him and gives man the freedom to choose. They shared that even men of God died unjustly, yet  they  are now with God. They told him that in the book of Daniel, in chapter 12, the prophet mentioned the two places one’s after death: the place of everlasting life or everlasting shame. Opening the Tanakh, they showed him the passage in Isaiah 53 and explained that only the Messiah, Yeshua, could make him righteous before God. Taking the bookmark, they showed him where he could read about some of the prophecies of the first and second coming of the Messiah. They spoke of the minority who believed in the truth and said that Isaiah and Jeremiah and almost all of the true prophets of God were killed. They spoke of the blood atonement of sins (Yom Kippur) and shared concerning the final sacrifice found in Yeshua for the permanent removal of one’s sins. He took the set, a pin and the Beth Ariel card and encouraged him to listen on the radio to the messages since he did not have internet.

The team is thankful to God for the beautiful outing and they want to thank everyone who is praying for this ministry.

All the praises, glory and honour is His! Amen!

Report from Team #2

3 sets, 1 Bible given.

This report was submitted by a single team member on this same day and at the same shopping mall.

A set was given to a couple who stated they were from Chabad. Seeing the gift set offered to them, they were very impressed. More conversation was spent with the wife who was informed that the member was a volunteer with the SDHS. The member then presented the Brit Chadashah and told her that it was a Jewish book, written by Jewish men who believed that Yeshua was the Messiah. Opening this book, the member pointed out that Yeshua’s genealogy was written in the first chapter and that it included prophecies fulfilled concerning Him that were foretold in the Tanakh. The couple was very touched and thankful for the set.

A second set was given to a Jewish man from Israel. Receiving the Tanakh, he was humbled and touched to take it. He was then presented with the Brit Chadashah and told about the Messianic viewpoint.  He too was touched as he took the set and accepted the pamphlet as well.

A third set in French was given to a French speaking woman who said she was not religious but traditional. She kept the holidays and was thankful as she took both books and two hostage pins (one for her friend). She was encouraged to listen to the teachings of Beth Ariel’s Messianic rabbi and was shown how she could go to the website and listen in on Radio Shalom. The woman was very thankful.

There was also a small conversation with an elderly man who knew about Jews for Jesus.  The member explained that she was not involved in Jews for Jesus but was with a parallel community of believers in Yeshua. The man did not object to this news and was attentive to what was being said. She shared about Yeshua, the Messiah with him and encouraged him to listen to the teaching of the Word. He took the comfort card, antisemitism pamphlet and the contact card.

She also met a Jewish lady who was more focused on her synagogue and the teachings of her rabbi.  The member explained that mankind needed the cleansing of sin as referenced in Lev. 17:11 and told her how it is only through the blood that one can receive forgiveness of sin. She told her that forgiveness could not be obtained through a mikveh or good works but through this blood sacrifice given by the Messiah. She was very attentive but stated that she was trying her best and wanted to stay with her rabbi’s teachings.

Then, she met an Asian man for the second time that day.  The first time, she offered him an antisemitism pamphlet which he took but on the second encounter at his car, the team member noticed a cross hanging from his mirror. She offered him a bible, and he accepted saying he would give it to his wife and that she would be very happy.

1 set and 1 Bible were given.

The team stayed at one mall which was quiet, but they were thankful to God for all the pamphlets that were distributed and the conversations that were had.

One set in Hebrew/French was given to a woman who was in a hurry. She received everything and was very thankful and grateful.

They then had a long conversation with a Christian woman who was born in Brazil. As they shared about who they were and about their congregation, she confided  that she was actually looking for a French church close to her house. They gave her the Beth Ariel card and invited her to their congregation and when she saw the name of the congregation, that it was Beth Ariel, she said that she had heard about this congregation. She affirmed that she did want to come, adding that it would not be that week.

One Bible in English was given to a man who was born in Italy. He stated that his dad was Persian, and his mother was Turkish (Muslim). They spoke about Jesus the Messiah, the only way to God and gave him the Beth Ariel contact card and invited him to visit the congregation.

There was a long conversation with a young man who told them that his family was Protestant but he, himself, was an unbeliever. They told him about the difference between religion and about having a personal relationship with God through Jesus the Messiah. He understood that sin separated man from God, and they told him that Jesus could reconcile him with God, even to the point that he could become a child of God. They told him how sin entered the world when Adam and Eve sinned and referenced Romans 6:23a, “For the wages of sin is death”. They spoke about the prophecy in Genesis 3:15 regarding the Messiah, and how Adam and Eve believed in this promise from God. He had many questions, one of them being, “What can you offer me, I am an unbeliever”? They told him that he can have eternal life in Jesus and be forgiven of all his sins and be reconciled with God, and become a new creation, a child of God. The conversation then switched to the present situation and the antisemitism going on and how it is all written about in the Bible. They gave him an antisemitism pamphlet and Beth Ariel card to see where he could connect to listen to the word. They invited him to visit the congregation, but he told them that he was working on Saturdays and so they told him that there were bible classes every first Wednesday of each month.

They were able to give some pamphlets and comfort cards to two religious people, one man and one woman as well. Praise God!

3 sets, 1 French Bible, and 1 Brit Chadashah were given.

A team of two were out at a local mall on a pleasant day. The first encounter was with an African man who had been in Canada for two years. He was greeted with rejoicing and this man laughed and asked what organization the team was with. After explaining their reason for presenting gifts to the Jewish community, they asked him if there was anything they could pray about for him. He was very appreciative and so together, they prayed with this man for his protection and health. He was grateful.

They then met a Filipino man as he was putting his cart in the stall.  A team member noticed while handing him a pamphlet that he was limping and that he had a son sitting inside the cart. He had plastic casts on both of his feet due to a malformation. The member asked the man why he was limping, and he told them how he had injured his back working hard labour on an ocean container ship and that he was off work for recovery. He was asked if he would like to receive a healing prayer for himself and his son and being Christian, he readily accepted.

One set was given to a Jewish lady who was very outgoing and open to speaking with the team.  She received the Tanakh first and then as they offered her the Brit, they explained that it was a Jewish book written by Jewish men who believed Yeshua was the Messiah. She said she knew about the Messianic viewpoint and as she took the gift, they encouraged her to listen to their rabbi’s teachings on Radio Shalom as they gave her the contact card. She was very positive about the conversation and the books and thanked the team for their effort.

A Jewish man was open to hearing about the Brit Chadashah as he stated that he already had the Tanakh. He listened to the team as they explained about the Messianic viewpoint and he took the Brit Chadashah, the comfort card, a hostage pin and an antisemitism pamphlet. He was very thankful.

A French Bible was given to a Muslim man from Algeria, who was interested in hearing more about Yeshua. He was told that Yeshua was more than just a prophet according to the Hebrew Scriptures, and that indeed He was deity. He quoted loosely, “I am, who I am” and the team agreed with him and stated that Yeshua was and is the Great I Am. He was thankful for the bible and the conversation.

They met also a Russian couple with their infant in a stroller. The husband said that he had Jewish relatives in Ukraine and that they were also from Ukraine and now living in Montreal for one year.  The team presented a French Tanakh to them and they were in shock as they stated that they had been looking for a Messianic congregation as they had attended one in Ukraine. The husband said he was reading the bible online but now was thrilled that he could read the real scriptures. They were invited to the congregation and the team prayed with them for their future in Canada. They also received hostage pins and a contact card.  They were very happy and excited as they left to do their shopping.

At a second mall, the team spent only a short while but right away they encountered a woman walking towards them when one of the members recognized her. She was a member of Beth Ariel some time ago but had not attended in the last five years. She said she had been thinking of the pastor’s wife just that week and said that she was looking for more Hebrew scriptures. The team offered her a gift set and she accepted. She was then invited to come to the congregation and a team member exchanged her phone number with her in order to have coffee with her another time.

A Jewish lady was waiting next to the building for her transport adapté to pick her up and sensing her tiredness, they asked her if she needed help. She said she was fine and then as the conversation continued, she said she was from Morocco. The team offered her a Tanakh saying that it was free. She was greatly surprised at the size and quality of the gift and accepted it immediately. She was then offered the Brit as well and hearing about its value, she took that also. They told her they were volunteers for the SDHS and while they were talking, a religious man wearing a kippa passed by them and a member greeted him with “Shalom Aleichem” and he returned “what a kind blessing” and continued on. The team waited with the woman until her ride appeared.

The team stated that it was a day of blessing and thanked everyone for their faithfulness in prayer. They praised God and lifted His name on high for the great things He was doing.
