In total: 5 sets, 2 Tanakh, 1 Bible and 1 Russian Tanakh
The outreach team was out on this day at an area that is frequented by the Jewish community. There were two teams on this day.
Report from team #1 (1 person)
4 sets were given, many pamphlets, comfort cards and yellow pins in support of the hostages.
A conversation started with a man who said that he already received the set and the antisemitism pamphlet. He was very upset with what was going on in Israel and in Gaza. The team member was able to share with him that it was important to be careful which news stations he listened to as it could be coming from, for example Hamas, and often their numbers are not confirmed by outside sources. She encouraged him to read the Scriptures where the truth could be found. He took the antisemitism pamphlet, and she further reminded him of the importance of being reconciled with God and said there will be peace when the Messiah, Yeshua comes back to reign in Jerusalem.
One set was given to a woman who was from Israel. She received all the literature and the set and was very thankful and grateful. As she shared about the situation in Israel, she had a hard time speaking as she became emotional and started crying. She said that her mother was not doing well after what happened on October 7th and that she lived in Israel, and it was very difficult for her to be so far away. They shared about the salvation that she could have in Yeshua, and how she could know true peace, rest and eternal life through Him. The Isaiah 53 leaflet was also given as well as two pins, one for her and one for her mother when she will see her again. She was very touched, and they hugged each other as they parted ways.
A conversation started with a Christian woman when she saw the antisemitism pamphlet and said that she was very upset with what was going on in Israel. She kept on saying, “I hope things will go well for Israel.” The team member shared that everything that was happening now was written in the Bible and that Jesus (Yeshua) will come back to reign in Jerusalem and bring peace. She also shared about the coming tribulation which this woman was not aware of. A Beth Ariel card was given so that she could listen to the word and she was invited to the congregation. The member thanked the woman for her concern and for her love for Israel.
A set was given to a man from Morocco. As he took the antisemitism tract, he said that antisemitism had been going on since the beginning of the ages and that it would never end. He accepted the set, and he was encouraged to read it because as was explained to him, everything that is happening today concerning antisemitism will end, as it is written in the Bible. She told him that he would find the truth written there. She spoke of sin and reconciliation with God through Yeshua. She shared her testimony, and that salvation has always been by faith. She told him that God was calling him. She spoke of a personal relationship with God and that if he asked God for the truth with a sincere heart He would show it to him. A pin was given as well as the Beth Ariel contact card. He was very surprised to hear that the teacher from the congregation is from Morocco and was thankful.
At the other mall two sets were given to a mother and a daughter from Morocco. They wanted to make sure that the member was not part of the Jehovah Witnesses and was assured that she was not. They were very thankful and grateful to receive the sets and they each received a pin. The mother wanted to have the pin put on her blouse right away and after the team member helped her with it, they hugged. A Beth Ariel card was also given to the daughter so that both of them could listen to the messages.
A conversation then took place with a religious man who received the antisemitism tract and comfort card but when he understood that she was Messianic he kindly gave them back, yet, she was able to share about her faith. The member explained that it was unfortunate that there has been so much persecution towards the Jewish nation from the nominal Christian church. She also shared about the errancy of replacement theology. She was able to share about Elijah when he thought he was the only believer but how God responded that He had reserved 7000 man who had not bowed down to Baal. She told him about the passage in Isaiah 53 which he said he was familiar with, and she told him that only the Messiah, Yeshua could make him righteous (tzadik). He took the Beth Ariel card and when asked what was her rabbi’s name, she shared with him that he came from Morocco.
Report from Team #2
1 set, 2 Tanakh, 1 Bible and 1 Russian Tanakh given later at a restaurant.
One Tanakh was given to a gentleman who was astonished at the quality of the gift. The team mentioned that they were volunteers with the Society that Distributes Hebrew Scriptures and he asked why they were there and where the Society was located. He was offered the set but declined the Brit Chadashah. He did however, take the Shavuot pamphlet and the Beth Ariel contact card.
There was a brief conversation with a Christian woman who attended a Protestant church. They spoke about the necessity of having a personal relationship with Jesus and how this relationship was separate from any religious affiliation. They explained about the love of God and coming to the knowledge of true repentance and salvation through the cross.
A Muslim man stopped to speak to the team. He stated that he had been a nurse in Iran but since coming to Canada, had to work as an aide in an accounting firm. He openly said that he loved the Jewish people and wanted to take several tracts for his Jewish friends. He also took a Bible for himself.
They met a Gentile woman who worked in the Jewish community. She wanted to have a set, as well as the pamphlets and comfort cards so that she could offer these to people in her community.
Then, a Persian woman who said she worked in the administration of Mada which is a Jewish organization, also said that she loved the Jewish people, and took a Tanakh for her office so that others could open it there. She listened to the gospel and the Jewish viewpoint and was very touched by the conversation, thanking the team several times.
At the second mall the team found it to be very quiet but had a time of prayer with a Christian woman from New Brunswick. The team prayed for her safety on the road, and for her and her sister’s well being.
Lastly, a Bible was given to a lady from South Africa. The woman was grateful for this bible that she could carry around with her as her own was too big to transport. She was very thankful.
Later in the afternoon, while waiting for her ride home, one of the team members decided to have a coffee break at a nearby restaurant. There in the parking lot, she met a Jewish man from Morocco and decided to give him a Shavuot pamphlet along with a BA contact card. There was a long conversation about the blood atonement and Yeshua being the Messiah. She spoke to him about the need for a Messiah to make one righteous as per Isaiah 53. She also referred to Genesis 3:15, “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers, he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel”. He gratefully took the Tanakh she was carrying and thanked her once again.
The two teams expressed their praise for all those who are constantly vigilant in their prayers for these outings and they lifted up their thankfulness to God.
Thursday, May 22nd
3 sets and 1 Tanakh were given.
It was a rainy and cold day as the team went out to evangelize. They stayed in the same centre for the entire time and expressed that they felt right away a heaviness in their hearts for the Jewish community with everything that was going on. In particular was the death of the young couple who had been murdered in Washington the evening before.
Before officially starting their outreach at the centre, they met a young woman, who, when she saw the pin on one of the team member’s coats, whispered to him, “I like your pin”. This incident allowed them to share their faith in Yeshua. They gave her the Beth Ariel card and a pin as she smiled. One of the team members was able to hug her.
At the centre, the first set was given to a man who was married to a Jewish woman. As they gave the anti-Semitism tract, he shared that his wife was very upset with the murder of the young couple in Washington and the team stated that they were also very disturbed and upset. They handed him the comfort card and gave him a set and told him that God was calling him and his wife to a true comfort, peace, rest, joy and eternal life that could be found in the Messiah, Yeshua, as written in the Scriptures. He was very touched and had watery eyes as he listened. They gave him two pins, one for himself and one for his wife.
One Russian Bible in place of a set, was given to a 90-year-old Jewish woman who immigrated from Russia. She shared with them that she had gone to Israel a couple of times. The conversation was short because she was in a hurry to meet her son, but she took all the literature offered and was very thankful and grateful, leaving with a smile.
Another set was given to a young Jewish man who was very surprised to see and receive the gift set from them. They were able to share about their faith and they encouraged him to read the Scriptures. He was given a pin as they parted ways.
One Tanakh was given to a woman who works at the Cummings Centre. She said that she had never read the Torah and was very happy to receive the gift. She shared that her son could read Hebrew and so she took another anti-Semitism tract in Hebrew for him. She was very touched by the comfort card and wanted to have extra ones to give to others. She said, “I don’t have my wallet with me,” and they replied that the cards were free, so she took three cards from them. She then said to them, “You should follow me as I am going to a place where there are many people that you can talk with”. They responded that they couldn’t go that day, but the woman gave them two addresses of Jewish centres where they could go.
There were many conversations with Muslim people. They then met an elderly woman who came from Scotland and who was married to a Jewish man, now deceased. She shared that she was Christian and that she could not go to her church for some reason not disclosed and so they gave her the Beth Ariel card where she could listen via the radio as she did not use the internet. The team had many other conversations on that day as well.
In total this team gave approximately eight pins, and about 25 to 30 anti-Semitism pamphlets.
It was a great blessing to go out that day and bring the truth of God’s Word to others. They prayed saying, “Thank you Lord. You are the Lord of all comfort!”
