4 sets and 2 Tanakh were given.

On this very hot day, a team of two went out to two local shopping malls.  It was very quiet at the first place and it appeared to be a day where many Asian people were doing their shopping.

A Tanakh was given to a Jewish man who mentioned that he was Ashkenazi and his wife was Sephardic.  The team introduced themselves by informing the couple that they were volunteers with the SDHS. They presented the Tanakh and let them know that they were Messianic. The couple accepted this well and so the team offered the Brit Chadashah as well. They were told about the nature of the book and how it proclaimed the fulfillment of the prophecies of the coming Messiah and that they could read about Him and how He would return to rule and reign in Jerusalem. They declined this book but did take the Tanakh and were very thankful.  As it was quiet then, the team decided to leave and go to the next mall after handing out several antisemitism pamphlets and comfort cards.

At the new mall, the team came across a small opposition when they met a very religious Jewish man loading his groceries into his trunk.  As they approached him, he looked up and began to call out, “You are missionaries, you are missionaries!” He shook his head and mumbled something and so one of the team members told him that they were Messianic and volunteers with the SDHS. The man made some movement with his hand and so the team left him and moved on quietly.

Next to the team’s car, they met two ladies and one man and offered them an antisemitism pamphlet. One of the women was able to speak some English but told the team that they were Russian.  Hearing this, a team member said a greeting in Russian and hugged the woman. They were offered the Tanakh in Russian and they received the NT  as well. They were very grateful for the free gift.

They then met a woman who stated that she was a caregiver and worked in the Jewish community.  She told them that she was Christian and worked with Alzheimer’s patients and so a small discussion followed in how she could approach these patients in moments when they had clarity and tell them about Yeshua.  She took the pamphlet and comfort card and thanked them very much.

A French, Catholic couple was approached and the team determined by their response that they were liberal in their stance so they had a small conversation about the situation in the world and when antisemitism would end. They took the pamphlets and began to read them as they left.

A Jewish lady “R”, told the team that she was Moroccan. They presented her with the Hebrew Scripture and spoke of the Messianic viewpoint.  They encouraged her to listen to the teachings of their Messianic rabbi who also came from Morocco. She gladly received the Tanakh and later the Brit. They explained how the Brit was written by Jewish authors and how it spoke about the fulfillment of the prophecies written in the Tanakh about the coming Messiah. They encouraged her to read the Scriptures and she was willing to take the books and to verify what they had told her. She was given a Beth Ariel contact card and encouraged to listen online to their rabbi’s teachings.

A French woman was approached next and they were informed that she was from Chabad. She did not want any Scripture and told the team that she had this type of conversation with her rabbi; however, she did take the antisemitism pamphlet and the Beth Ariel contact card.

The team spoke to a young Jewish man who said he had lived several years in Haifa. They spoke openly to him about Yeshua and referred to John 14:6 saying that only He was the way, the truth and the life. Another member quoted Mark 8:36 KJV: “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” and continued saying to him, (Heb.9:27 KJV) “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment”. They told him that he would have to make a decision about his sin and forgiveness. After this, the young man took the Tanakh and said that his step-father would read it.

The team then approached a car where the windows were down and two young ladies were getting ready to leave. They said that they were Italian and the driver quietly said she was Jewish and that they had many Jewish friends. After they both received an antisemitism pamphlet, the driver was offered the set.  She was excited and shocked at the beauty of the book and gladly took the set.  She did not seem to mind taking the Brit Chadashah and so the other young woman chimed in that she wanted a set as well and that she would offer it to one of her Jewish friends. They happily thanked the team and left.

The young man that the team had met earlier returned to them and asked one of the team members if she would share her personal testimony with him. He listened intently and then asked her how many times she had read the bible. Her response to him was that she could not answer that as she had been a born-again believer for over forty years. He smiled with disbelief but they encouraged him to have a personal relationship with God because it was not about a religion.  He thanked the team for their patience and left.

They then met a Jewish couple who accepted the pamphlet and were told by the team that they were Messianic and believed that Yeshua was the Messiah. The woman responded saying Yeshua was Jewish and that He was very kind. She then confessed that they had friends who believed in the Messiah of the Lubavitch. A member asked if they were Chabad to which the woman replied that they were not. She was offered the Brit Chadashah but declined.

The team gave out several antisemitism pamphlets and comfort cards as well and wanted to thank the Lord for His protection and for all the prayers offered on their behalf as they went out.
