1 set, 1 Tanakh, 1 Brit Chadashah and 1 Bible were given.

A team of two were out on this day at a local shopping mall. They first met a Jewish woman from Casablanca who spoke French. There was a long 20 minute conversation where the team was able to speak about the gift set, the Tanakh and about their faith in Yeshua, the Messiah. As she took the Scriptures, she told the member that she had listened to many strong believers before, just like this team member. When the member mentioned the name of Pastor Jacques Gabizon, she said that she knew a person with the same last name, but it turned out that there was no relationship. They spoke to her about sin, the atonement for sin through a Kapparah, provided by the Messiah and mentioned Isaiah 53. They spoke about how the rabbis of the first century spoke concerning the suffering of the Messiah but that this was later changed by Rashi (well known Jewish commentator) to signify Israel instead. She was willing to know more but stated that she would speak to her friend who was neither a teacher nor a rabbi. She thanked the team for the gift and the conversation.

A man who was returning to his car was offered the antisemitism pamphlet, but he commented that he was not Jewish.  A member told him that the Word was for everyone as it provided spiritual direction. He was told that it was important to know who God is and to have a relationship with Him. Replying, he told them that he was Catholic and so they stressed the importance of him having a personal relationship with God aside from having a relationship with a religious community. The man replied that his family attended church together and thanked the team for their advice.

They had a long conversation with a Jewish man about the suffering of Job. He told the team that he had many bibles and a member told him that this was good, but  that he should also read them and referred him to John 3:16. He told them that he used to be a choir boy and was meant to be a priest but he decided that he wanted to have a family instead and said he thought he had made the right decision. He thanked the team for the pamphlet and told them he would read it.

They then met a Jewish man from New York who previously lived in Montreal. He had two daughters in the USA; one was following the Jewish faith, and the other was Christian. Speaking at length, he told them about his amazing conversion story that began with a return trip from Lake Huron to Montreal several years before. He told them that there was a heavy rainstorm and he stopped in a town to wait until the storm subsided. He had decided to go to a brasserie to eat and while there he met two Billy Graham chaplains. Then the men gave him the gospel message and he said the prayer of salvation with them. Explaining further, he told the team members that he being Jewish did not know which faith to join and so finally decided to convert to Catholicism. He stressed that he was not born-again but Catholic and so the team encouraged him to have a personal relationship with Yeshua. He received the antisemitism pamphlet and the Beth Ariel contact card and was invited to join them at the congregation. He happily accepted the offer stating that he would think about attending.

A Jewish gentleman stopped to talk with the team. He saw that they were giving out pamphlets and took it quickly but stayed to pour out his heart regarding the behaviour of the university students and how they had become brainwashed regarding Palestine. He spoke of their attitude and chants and how they had no idea what they were calling out. He was offered a set then and with surprise and emotion he accepted the gift and thanked them profusely stating that they were doing a great work.

A Jewish lady was greeted at the same time and told the member that she was thankful that they were handing out antisemitism tracts. She told the member that she was studying Kabbalah and was then encouraged by the team member to look to the real Messiah instead and she presented her with the Brit Chadashah. She told her it was written by Jewish men who believed Yeshua was the Messiah. The woman recognized the book as the New Testament, so she was informed that it spoke of all the fulfilled promises concerning Him. She took the Brit and thanked the member.

The team met a woman on two separate occasions; the first time was when she was leaving her car and going to the mall, there she was given a pamphlet. The woman stated that she was in a hurry but would look for the team member on the way out. The second member also approached her when she was coming out of the building and offered her the same pamphlet, but the woman refused. Then as the team was sitting in their car the woman came bravely to the window and knocked. She asked if they were Jehovah Witnesses to which they told her no, that they were Messianic and believed in Jesus. With relief the woman thanked them for the pamphlet and asked if they could pray for her. Stepping out of the car, the team asked if she had a bible and would she like to have one to which she said yes. She told them that she was a believer but was having trouble at work and desperately needed prayer. After the prayer, she took the bible and was invited to come to the congregation and was given the contact card.

The team praised God for the eventful day and colourful conversations and for His continual covering over them. They also wanted to thank each person who prayed for the outing.

Team #1

1 Russian set, and many pamphlets were given.

The team thanked God that they were able to go out this week as the heatwave subsided. Praise God,1 set in Russian was given, pamphlets were distributed, and they had a few conversations as well, one lasting for about 40 minutes.

At the first commercial centre one set in Russian was given to a man who was very surprised to hear that it was a gift, and that no donations were asked. He did not know what the Brit Chadashah was, so the team member explained (referring also to the New Covenant in Jeremiah 31: 31). He also received the antisemitism tract and the comfort card. He mentioned that he was looking to get a tallit. The team member directed him to a nearby store. He was very thankful and grateful.

They also had a conversation with a Christian man who received the antisemitism tract. He was looking at the picture on the front panel of the pamphlet and he did not know what it represented. They explained that this monument is in front of the Holocaust Museum, the Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, Israel. They spoke about the holocaust, the antisemitism that was going on, the tribulation to come and how this hatred is called as “an everlasting hatred”.  He mentioned that he had planned to go to Israel, but Covid came and then October 7th.  They prayed that, God willing, one day he will be able to visit. They insisted on the importance of reading and knowing the Scriptures, where only the truth can be found. A Beth Ariel card was also handed to him.

A comfort card was handed to a religious man who was clothed in black and white. As they approached him, he said that they should get out of there. They offered him a comfort card with some of the promises to Israel and said that they were there only to bring comfort at this time. Looking at the team members he ripped the comfort card and said, “You are missionaries and are trying to convert the Jewish people”. The team answered saying that they could not convert anyone and that only God could reveal the truth. They left then as they did not want the situation to escalate as this man was very upset.

At the second mall they had a conversation with a woman who no longer followed or believed in religion. She was very upset with what was going on in the world, the wars and the state of the heart of man. She was also blaming God with things that were happening. Right away they corrected her saying that God is holy and that all His ways are perfect, true and righteous and that the evil that was going on was because of sin. They quoted from the Bible the verse of Jeremiah 17: 9a “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked”. They also mentioned the verse in Romans 3: 23, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. As they spoke about sin her eyes began to be watery and one of the team members handed her a Kleenex. They shared that only God can change the heart of man through Jesus, because of His sacrificial death and resurrection on the cross and that He only can bring peace to the world. They quoted John 3: 16 and urged her to guard her heart for from there are the springs of life (from Proverbs 4: 23). She was not ready to receive a Bible but received the antisemitism tract and the Beth Ariel card where she could listen to the messages and was encouraged to do so.

They had a long conversation with a Jewish man for about 40 minutes and offered him the set.  When they first presented the Tanakh, he asked what the book was. They explained it to him but he answered that he reads the Torah and also commentaries from the Kabbalah. They shared the importance of staying in the Holy Scriptures because that is where God speaks and of the importance to read about prophecies that are written and the importance of recognizing who the Messiah is by the prophecies and how they point man to who He is.

They spoke about:

– the term echad (compound unity) versus the term yachid (one and only one) and that throughout the Scriptures we can see the Trinity; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh).

– the fall of men, the prophecy followed in Genesis 3: 15, blood atonement, quoted the passage of Leviticus 17: 11 and the final sacrifice of Yeshua as they were able to read some of the verses from Isaiah 53. They shared that judgment for sin had been removed for whoever receives Yeshua as their Messiah, their personal Saviour.

– the fact that it had always been the minority and not the majority who believed, believes or will believe in the truth of the Scriptures and only a remnant will be saved. They quoted Isaiah 10: 22, and Daniel 12: 2

– God who calls but it is the responsibility for each one to respond to the call.

The man listened carefully. He received the antisemitism tract and the Beth Ariel card but did not receive the Scriptures. As they parted ways, they encouraged him to listen to the teachings and not to fear but to seek the truth.

The team stated that they were so thankful and grateful to God for the honour to be able to go and bring His word and pray for the salvation of all those they met, and they thank everybody who prayed.

Praise God! All the glory is His! Amen!

Team #2

4 sets, 2 Brit Chadashah, 1 Tanakh, 1 Bible were given.

Two sets and 1 Brit Chadashah were given to two Jewish ladies. One lady was from Brazil while the other was from Morocco. The lady from Brazil told the team that after a brief conversation, the team appeared to know more about the Word than they did. The team spoke to them about the Messiah and offered the Hebrew Scriptures.  They said they were very thankful to hear about Yeshua and they accepted prayer as the one woman was returning to Brazil in a few days.

The team spoke to a Jewish man for several moments about the Scriptures and about Yeshua, the Messiah.  They told him about the necessity of having forgiveness of sin and to be repentant for one’s sin. They spoke of the kapparah which was offered by the Messiah as an atonement, how He came to earth to fulfill the law and to give a New Covenant to the people of Israel. He happily took the contact card and was willing to visit the congregation and meet with their Rabbi, he said.

A Tanakh was given to a Jewish lady who accepted a hostage pin as well. She said she was blessed and thankful.  Then, a man who said he was Christian told the team that he was pro-Israel and that he worked in the Jewish community. He took one set, 1 Brit Chadashah and pamphlets to share and then they took a time of prayer together.

A French Bible was given to a French Canadian who was originally from Lebanon. They shared the gospel with him, and he was very grateful.

The team was thankful for the conversations and literature that they were able to give and thanked the Lord for His faithfulness.
