Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My right hand of righteousness. Isaiah 41:10
There was one team of three persons on this week’s outreach. We gave five sets, 3 anti-Semitism pamphlets and one sheet on Isaiah 53.
The woman behind the door did not want to open so quickly, but then, with the safety chain still on, she felt confident enough to be more visible. Once she saw the books being offered, she felt much more at ease and opened her door to us in full! Having detected her accent, we offered her a Hebrew/Russian bible set. She received it with a big smile, but the biggest surprise for us came when, eyeing the New Testament, she said, “The Brit” (a shortened form of the Brit Chadasha) She appeared in some way to be both familiar and comfortable with it. We also gave her the pamphlet on anti-Semitism as well as the sheet with verses from Isaiah 53.
Another woman also received a pamphlet on anti-Semitism and Isaiah 53. She did not take the set, saying she was not much of a reader.
A woman with her little dog in hand received us at her door. She was gentle and soft-spoken and in a most natural way, accepted the set with a smile. She then thanked us when we parted.
A lovely man in his 80’s took a set. We showed him the bookmark placed at Isaiah 53, that great chapter about the prophesied Messiah. We told the gentleman that we believed the Messiah was supposed to come twice. He was grateful and appreciative and as we were leaving, he blew us a kiss and said, “Chag Sameach”(Hebrew for Happy Holiday) . We answered, “Happy Purim”! He thanked us many times over. We could see the man was deeply touched by this gift! (Thank you, Lord God!)
Even though our time at the door can be so short, our prayer is that the seed gets deeply planted and firmly rooted, with a growth toward an abundant harvest.
A woman in her 70’s accepted a set. We spoke about Purim, that God would never abandon His people. We spoke about the hard times which were coming yet how at the same time God is maintaining His promises and His allegiance to His people Israel. We also mentioned that there is only one God and one Truth and what is written in these books is Truth! She agreed with us and received our other two pamphlets.
A beautiful woman, around 80 years old and full of smiles, met us at the door in her white pajamas. She received a whole set with joy. She said she would read the Isaiah 53 passage. We explained that the Jewish people were the Chosen of God and that they had the responsibility to bring the knowledge of God to the nations. We also mentioned that the Messiah was to come from the Jewish people. She was touched and thanked us.
Thank you Lord God Almighty for this beautiful evening, as we stayed in the presence of the Holy Spirit. Thank you for using us for the Glory of Your Name, for You alone are God and Savior, Marvelous in all Your ways, Great Counselor and Promise Keeper in all Your words. May Your name be blessed and revered on this earth, now and forevermore!
Amen!
