Things are unfolding so rapidly these days. This past week brought such encouraging news that it almost feels like we’re entering a time of peace, at least, that’s what we might believe if we weren’t familiar with Bible prophecy. Billions of dollars in deals were signed between the United States and several wealthy Gulf nations, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. The initial agreements are estimated at $300 billion, with additional pledges exceeding $700 billion over the coming years.

Peace with Iran now seems within reach. Just last week, the United States presented Iran with its first written proposal for a new nuclear deal. Trump remarked, ‘I think we are getting very close to getting a deal with Iran.’

And these days he is pushing for the Abraham Accords, this peace treaty between Israel and the Arab countries; this week Trump spoke of it as my dream that will come about. He wrapped up his trip in the Middle East by visiting the interfaith Abrahamic Family House situated in the United Arab Emirates and where three houses of worship stand: a mosque, a synagogue and a church. The Abrahamic Family House is also connected to the broader efforts of the Abraham Accords. Furthermore, the US is lifting all sanctions against Syria who asked to join the Abraham Accords. The Israeli media is reporting that Syria is now talking with Israel for this eventual peace treaty.

As for Gaza, while there is war at this moment, Trump reaffirms that He wants to take over the territory to manage it in order to make it a freedom zone, as he calls it. As for the war between Ukraine and Russia, Trump said that he wants to meet with Putin and Zelenski to put and end to this war. The overall momentum is so positive that the stock market is rising, and even Trump’s critics are acknowledging this favorable turn of events, but is it real?

Is it possible that the hearts of the people have shifted this quickly? The Bible clearly indicates that before the final wars, before the Tribulation, the world will become so rich, so prosperous and seemingly peaceful. However,  the prophets of the Bible, in unison, warn us that when the people would say Peace and safety!” then destruction will come upon them suddenly? 1Thessalonians 5:3. Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Paul, and John warn the planet of this.

While we cannot say for certain that the final peace treaty between Israel and the Antichrist will be signed in the coming days, the current world events, and the speed at which they are unfolding, serve as a sobering reminder of how quickly things can change. Let us not be deceived by appearances of peace. Though the actions of these nations may suggest it, we must ask: have their hearts truly been transformed? After all, the Prince of Peace has not yet returned.

One last thing—did you see how Qatar gifted the United States a $400 million aircraft, reportedly the most luxurious plane in the world? Have the leaders of Qatar had a change of  heart? They are the ones who financially have been and are supporting Hamas. Its government has created the news media Al Jazeera which constantly, day after day and for many years, has been pounding on Israel and the West. Israel last year banned Al Jazeera from their territory.

Furthermore, this government is the largest foreign funder of American universities which have lately turned against Israel. While Trump has cut down funds against a few of them because of antisemitism, Qatar gives them money.

Last week, Witkoff, the United States Special Envoy to the Middle East, was so impressed by this Trojan Horse that he said that “Qatar funds everything and they don’t ask for much”.

They remind us of the Babylonians and Assyrians envoy to Israel who had one thing in mind: See how they could destroy it. And we could not have been at a better place as we are now in our studies of this powerful prophet: Zephaniah. We have come to this portion of the book which describes for us the moments before the Messiah comes back, once and for all, and He will not find this planet at peace.
