Who hasn’t been watching the news lately? There is so much happening. However, in these days, it is coming to a point where it is more and more disturbing to listen to all the media as there is a growing and unmistakable bias against Israel that is becoming so intense it is fueling global vilification of the Jewish people.

A few things happened last week; for instance, for three consecutive days, Israel was accused of shooting at some Palestinian civilians who were trying to receive humanitarian aid. CNN on June 3rd reported that dozens of Palestinians were killed near a Gaza aid distribution point, health officials said in a third day of shooting. Supposedly Israeli forces opened fire on a crowd gathered at that aid distribution point. After such news, how can you not be revolted by this Jewish state’s actions by Israel’s actions.

On the same day, June 3rd, on the first page of their internet edition, BBC wrote: 27 Palestinians killed by Israeli fire near aid centre, Gaza authorities say: Civilians were fired upon by tanks, quadcopter drones, and helicopters …a spokesman for Gaza’s Hamas-run Civil Defence agency, said. Again, after this, one’s hatred against the Jews would only grow, right?

But these reports of shootings and killings first needed to be verified, which they weren’t. In its defence, Israel provided footage of the scene and showed that it was not Israel firing at civilians but gunman firing at innocent Palestinians. Even after this, the media and others did not retract. They left their news as is leaving this impression that Israel is firing at civilians, day in and day out.

This was so flagrant that it brought some government officials in the US to react to these false reports. For instance, even before these events, on June the 2nd, the US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee who happens to be a Christian, accused these media outlets of spreading “false information” about the war in Gaza, alleging that their reporting contributes to an “anti-Semitic climate” and bolsters Hamas propaganda. Also, on June the 4th, US press secretary Karoline Leavitt accused BBC of not checking the facts and taking Hamas’ word as total truth.

But see now what is happening:  While the world’s cameras are focused on Israel, and while so much false information is spreading against the Jews, the world is turning a blind eye on other major news. Did you know that right now, in Burkina Faso, in Mali, and in the Sahel, millions are facing acute hunger, displacement and war? In Burkina Faso itself, 2.7 million people are suffering from acute hunger and over 2 million people have been displaced by conflict.

Perhaps you’ve never even heard of these countries or regions, because their stories are not being reported to us. Yet the people are just like us, and their children are just like our children, hurting, struggling, and in need.

In Niger, West Africa, it is reported that this year, an estimated 2.7 million people, including 1.3 million children, will require humanitarian aid. In Yemen, this year, 5.1 million people are expected to experience critical levels of food insecurity. Malnutrition rates are alarming, with 2.7 million children acutely malnourished, including 540,000 suffering from severe acute malnutrition. But all we hear about Yemen lately is how they are sending missiles to Israel.

Haiti is currently experiencing one of the world’s most severe and underreported humanitarian crises. Over 5.7 million Haitians, more than half the population, are facing acute food shortages. More than 1 million children are at critical risk of malnutrition, with 2.85 million children facing high levels of food shortages.

Yet the world news is focusing on Israel and adding lie on top of lie. But why do you think that the world is focussing on Israel? There is something that is happening these days that we, Bible believers should be aware of concerning this land and nation.

After all, Israel is mentioned over 2500 times in our Bible and her history fills the page from Genesis to Revelation and even up to the Eternal State. Should we not know what is happening to her today? And because she is God’s chosen nation, should we not take her defense? Today, this growing wave of condemnation and criticism against all Jews, increasingly resembles the atmosphere that once led to rising hatred, and even to murder, much like the period leading up to the Nazi Holocaust.

For instance, before the killing of 6 million Jews in Europe, a Nazi-controlled newspapers spread lies about Jews, blaming them for Germany’s problems. As a result, it fueled antisemitism and helped justify the Holocaust. It seems that now we are beginning to experience such a time.

The troubling truth is that even Christians are not immune to the rising tide of anti-Israel and anti-Jewish sentiment. When a lie is repeated often enough, it doesn’t just echo, it reshapes our thoughts and opinions. Repeat a lie often enough and sadly, it becomes the truth for many.

And most significantly, what we’re witnessing today aligns with the trajectory of biblical prophecy. Prophets like Zechariah, Daniel, and even Jesus Himself warned of a rising tide of global antisemitism that would sweep the earth in the last days, just before the Second Coming. It appears that wave has already begun to rise.

And so, we are called to test, to verify, to ask questions and not be swayed by this wave of hatred or intimidated by those who spread it.  And one more time, all of these events we are living today represent such a great open door to present the Gospel, not only to Jews, who are more hungry than ever to find out what in the world is happening to them, but to Gentiles as well who are also asking questions.
