Magen David on Hebrew Scriptures

Report for Friday, December 6th

3 sets, 1 Tanakh and 1 Arabic Bible were given.

On a beautiful but windy, cold day, a team of two women were out at two local shopping malls.

The first set was given to a man who was leaving the shopping mall.  As the team was passing him and as he was getting into his car from an electric wheelchair he borrowed from the mall, they greeted him happily. After a brief introduction, the man told the ladies that he was planning to go to Israel in two months time.  One of the team members told him that she had visited Israel before the pandemic.  The man was thankful to be given such a gift and thanked them as he prepared to leave. The team then took the electric wheelchair back to the mall where it belonged.

One New Testament was given to a young Muslim couple. They received the scriptures along with a Christmas pamphlet.  They had a baby in a stroller so the team had a small conversation with them.

The team then spoke with a man who said that he already had been given a set.  A Christmas tract was offered to him as they were uncertain if he was Jewish but he refused it saying that he was Jewish and so they quickly offered him the Hanukkah pamphlet which he took. He stated that he was teaching his son the word of God and so they did have at that point a chance to speak about Yeshua. They told him that it was important to have reconciliation with God through Yeshua. He told the ladies that he believed that man could make peace but they responded saying that man could not make peace and spoke about Moses.

During that time there was persecution of the Jewish nation and later in Ezekiel this term, the “everlasting hatred”, was given to describe the animosity against the Jews, which still exists today.  They also spoke about how sin entered the world as recorded in Genesis. At that time God provided the prophecy that He would provide a Messiah who would crush the serpent, and they told him that peace would come only when that Messiah returns to rule and reign in Jerusalem. They stressed the importance of being reconciled with God because of sin.  The man was very grateful.

After this conversation, the team found that there were fewer people to speak with at that mall and decided that they would go to another mall in a different area. The mall where they intended to go was populated with more French speaking people and they knew that Sephardic Jews did their shopping there.  Arriving, they found that it was less windy and so they stayed for approximately one half hour.  It was here that they gave out two sets and one Tanakh.

The first English set was given to a man who was very surprised to receive such a gift. He was offered the Tanakh first and then the Brit Chadashah which he accepted and he was very pleased to have been offered such a valuable gift.

A pamphlet was offered to a man who walked past them initially but as they kept walking, they spotted him standing outside his car smoking. He was unable to leave as a car was blocking his exit and so they offered the pamphlet to him again. This time he did take the pamphlet, a comfort card and a Tanakh! Surprisingly, he was very grateful for the gift.

Another set was given to a man who was thrilled to have the Tanakh and so the team offered him the Brit as well. Just as they were offering the Brit Chadashah to him, another man came up to him from behind and said, “Don’t take it, it is no good!” This man then continued on his way to the store but the team refused to let these words make an impact so they said to the gentleman that he should take it as he would be able to see the prophecies that were fulfilled concerning the coming of the Messiah. He then took the entire set despite what the other man had told him.

The team decided to drive around the block and wait for the angry man to leave and as they came to the front of the mall, they parked on the street.  Here, they spoke with a Sephardic man about the prophecies concerning the Messiah and how He would return to rule and reign in Jerusalem. They spoke Yeshua in Isaiah 9:6, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”. It was a lovely, short conversation.

The team was very thankful that they were able to go out despite the windy weather and that they were guided and directed by God.  They expressed their gratitude for the prayers for them and praised God for His faithfulness.
